Quality assessment digital elevation models

چکیده

A number of published stereo matching algorithms have been implemented and tested on SPOT images of areas for which we have gridded digital elevation models (DEMs) available with spacings of 80m or less as well as ground control checkpoints. Results will be presented for a comparison of stereo matched output with the DEMs and an analysis of the errors arising and their causes. Results will be discussed for planimetrically geocoded and epipolar resampled data .. An error budget describing effects due to orientation, feature localisation and matching will be discussed and conclusions drawn for future work in this area.

Effects of Digital Elevation Models (DEM) Spatial Resolution on Hydrological Simulation

Digital Elevation Model is one of the most important data for watershed modeling whit hydrological models that it has a significant impact on hydrological processes simulation. Several studies by the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) as useful Tool have indicated that the simulation results of this model is very sensitive to the quality of topographic data. The aim of this study is evaluati...

Effect of digital elevation model’s resolution in producing flood hazard maps

Flooding is one of the most devastating natural disasters occurring annually in the Philippines. A call for a solution for this malady is very challenging as well as crucial to be addressed. Mapping flood hazard is an effective tool in determining the extent and depth of floods associated with hazard level in specified areas that need to be prioritized during flood occurrences. Precedent to the...

Assessment Effect of the Spatial Resolution of Digital Elevation Model on Daily Discharge Estimation of Arazkuseh Watershed Using SWAT Model

The spatial quality of the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) has a great effect on the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) semi-distributed model. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of spatial accuracy of three DEMs with spatial resolutions of 10, 50 and 200 m on the results of daily discharge simulation in the Arazkuseh subwatershed located in Gorganroud watershed, Golestan pro...

HIGH RESOLUTION DEMs AND ORTHO-IMAGE BASEMAPS FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT APPLICATIONS

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) are the digital representation of topographic and/or manmade features located on the surface of the earth. DEMs are widely used for hydrologic analyses, resource management, transportation planning, earth sciences, and environmental assessment. Increased use of DEMs in these wide-ranging applications has led to greater need for higher resolut...

Assessment of Digital Elevation Models Derived Using Radar Interferometry

Interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) has been developed as a powerful technique to derive high quality digital elevation models (DEMs) from a pair of SAR images. (Honikel, 1998) This paper describes InSAR processing principle, the crucial steps in deriving high quality DEMs from the C-band ERS Tandem Mission data, and addresses possible error sources before and during the processing...

Refinement of Urban Digital Elevation Models from Very High Resolution Stereo Satellite Images

Digital elevation models (DEM) of high resolution and high quality are required for many applications like urban modeling, readiness for catastrophes or disaster assessment. A good source for the derivation of such DEMs from any place in the world are very high resolution (VHR) satellite stereo images as provided e.g. by Ikonos, QuickBird or WorldView. In this paper a method for the generation ...
